friend – Iced Tea and Top Knots

[I have been away for a bit, but happy to be back with a new post ! So let’s kick it off :)]

This a little late for Father’s Day, but I figured I can never be late when talking about my dad.

What can I say about the man that has continuously helps take care of me , gives me advice and protects me ? He is a man that I have gotten my love of sports and music from, someone who I call a great friend and continuously laugh with. One of my favorite activities these days with my dad is either watching golf or the Cubs or hitting up a great happy hour with bites(grilled artichoke, here is a great recipe:http://allrecipes.com/recipe/57899/grilled-garlic-artichokes/ )and drinks ( a favorite, Mother Earth Cali Creaming ).

Not only can I have fun with my dad whether out and about or relaxing at home, but also in times of stress and hardship I know I can count on my dad to listen, comfort and give great advice.

You also best believe when the Cubs go to the World Series, we will be there together cheering them on! Go Cubs Go (Cubbies)!!

As I write this Mother’s Day is just a couple days away and it gets me thinking every year how lucky I am to have a mom like mine who supports, loves, pushes and allows me to shoot for the stars.

When I was little she let me play in dirt, sing like I was the next pop star on my plastic microphone, change my clothes 10 times a day like I was a runway model to letting me pack up my blue suitcase when I was 5 thinking I was moving out. The point of all these stories is that my mom let me be me and continues to let me be me so I ask myself, “How do I choose what to get such an amazing mom the perfect Mother’s Day gift? How do I just pick one thing to get my best friend for this holiday?” So I realized if I am having thoughts about what to get my mom, you all probably are too and if you already know, teach me your ways 🙂
