Popping Champagne at Calabasas Malibu Food & Wine Festival

These days great company, champagne and a beautiful setting make for an amazing day and event. The Champagne Brunch for the Calabasas Malibu Food & Wine Festival on June 11th had all of these components. It was truly a beautiful event with great food from Toscanova out on the beautiful patio, live music from Tara Macri and great conversations with great company that included chefs from the previous 2 evening of the festival. I wish I could have made the first two nights because everyone was talking about how truly fantastic they were.

I always love it when I can leave an event with a huge smile on my face from enjoyment and I left with a big one from this one. I made lifelong friends from this one and have from all of Barcelona Enterprises past events as well. Barcelona Enterprises, who put the 3 day festival, put on a truly luxurious, classy event. I felt like I had known everyone for year and was welcomed with open arms. I will definitely be going again next year and will be bringing my family and friends. A champagne brunch is a perfect way to end a spectacular 3 day festival.

As Alan Semsar (CEO/Founder of Barcelona Enterprises) said, “The world’s top brands came together to support arts and education that included McLaren Beverly Hills, Capital One, Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Samuel Adams. They are all model corporate citizens who make a global & local impact. Redefining Relaxation Through a Staycation at Farmer’s Daughter Hotel

A tradition I have started in the last year was one of having a staycation as often as I can. It was something that started with wanting to be near work one week when I had a lot going on. A light bulb went off, “why don’t I have a staycation every so often?” The tradition of staycations were born right then and there for me.

So the time came again this past February for me to have another staycation and exploring adventure in my amazing city. Where this next staycation was going to be was not hard, Farmer’s Daughter Hotel and the surrounding area that I had been wanting to stay in for awhile. It’s a hotel I passed a bunch of times and an area I have been to before and have just fallen in love with it all. An added bonus too is one of my favorite outdoor shopping spots, The Grove, is a quick walk from the hotel along with Coffee Commissary within 5 minutes or so, which I was so excited to finally try).

The reservation was made and my staycation was here, yay ! Luckily the bad weather subsided long enough for me to have an amazing staycation. I checked in to Farmer’s Daughter Hotel, which has one of the cutest lobbies and my room wasn’t ready, but it was perfect because I had the perfect chance to walk on over to The Grove for a shopping adventure before dinner.

Where to start now at The Grove ? Topshop caught my eye immediately I was overwhelmed with excitement on all the great pieces, but the ones I ended up with was this amazing leather floral pleated skirt and fun, fuzzy socks for Valentine’s Day that I now where all the time. Now that I have added some amazing new pieces to my wardrobe, it is time for a refreshing beverage and a tasty snack. Whenever I am at the Grove my go to is Nordstrom Cafe. I ordered an iced tea (my obsession) with a smoked salmon platter (always my go to) and I was able to enjoy it all outside in the cute court yard surrounding the cafe.

My room was ready and it was a nice surprise because they upgraded me to the main building to makeup for me waiting, which highlighted their amazing customer service even more. Walking into the room, I got a warm, cozy feeling and I knew I was in a space of pure relaxation, which was needed with the amazing king bed and breakfast nook bench all with fantastic accents everywhere. I officially need a king bed in my life because I was spoiled by this one, absolutely loved.

Being able to plop down on the amazing bed with my magazaine and book before dinner at Tart (the restaturant connected directly to the hotel). Dinner was here my outfit was fun and fabulous and my book & notebook were in hand. With the essentials in tow, I walked over and got a gorgeous seat on their deck near the fireplace, simply fantastic (I highly recommend making a reservation like I did to guarantee a gorgeous spot, which is anywhere at this amazing place). I ordered jasmine green tea, brussel sprouts with a fried egg and fried pickles as an appetizer (a suggestion from Bread and Butter PR) and for the main course, one of the best cheeseburger (mmm, delicious).

Let me tell you this meal was stupendous ! I can’t forget the delicious, decadent dessert, which they delivered to my room after I got back up (they seriously spoiled me). I ordered italian sugar donuts with a delicious filling, one of the bests. Eating the dessert at my nook in my room was the perfect end to a perfect day and night.

It was morning and after being well rested and re-energized, I lounged and wrote in my room before heading out. I ended the trip with a stop at Coffee Commissary for breakfast, which is one of my new favorites.

To say I will be back is an understatement, I will be back in ten fold to each spot especially because I have to be sure to ride around on the Farmer’s Daughter Hotel adorable bikes 🙂 .

Lights, Camera, Oscars !

It is Oscar season, which means fashion, movies, popcorn and stars ! I look forward to it every year. I love seeing what my favorite stars are going to wear, say and who will win. I think my love for the Oscars started when my family and I would print the Oscar ballots out every year(totally did this year again) and when we all try and see the nominated stars and films ( I have been slacking on this one lately).

The Oscars means family fun, bonding and eating yummy treats while watching the Oscar extravaganza. I love seeing so much great talent in one room rocking some of my favorite designers/inspiration.

Yes, fashion is always at the top of my list for why I watch the red carpet shows, but like I said the big part of why I love Oscar season is the family memories I have and will continue to have when watching with those I love.

Christmas Time is Here with Fabulous Flare and Tradition

Christmas is here and I am smiling from ear to ear. This is my favorite time of year for many reasons. Yes, it is exciting to get gifts and give them, but this is not why I love Christmas. I will keep it short and sweet as to why because let me tell you this topic alone could be months worth of blog posts.

Christmas Time for me is my favorite because it means laughter with family and friends, sitting by the Christmas tree, eating a delicious honey baked ham, A Christmas Story movie will probably always make an apperance, Christmas mass where we all get to rock amazing holiday fashion(the fashions pictured are two of my favorite looks this year !) and yes rocking my new Christmas PJS.

Christmas time is all about tradition and that tradition is spending time with each other and yes we do open gifts, but what I get excited about the most is watching everyone else open their gifts and seeing them get giddy. With my family there seems to always be lots of laughter when we open our stockings and gifts, which creates such a warmth in me 🙂

Christmas time tradition also includes picking up a tree, decorating it with family ornaments, shopping together, wrapping presents, baking yummy cookies, putting up lights with my dad and in recent years, I have been going to Pinterest for a couple new DIY decorations for each new Christmas time season.

I will end this year’s Christmas time post with why Christmas time for me is extra exciting. The reason is because it is my Amazing mother’s birthday the very same day we celebrate Christmas ! We celebrate it by going to a fun movie, opening bday gifts and fullfilling my mom’s sweet tooth with a birthday cake.

Finding Your Inner Empowered Boss

It’s a bid, its a plane… it’s an empowered woman ! It’s me !

Feeling empowered and declaring my dreams have not always been easy, but through the years in finding my passion and dreams, feeling empowered and my voice have grown.How do you say did I find my inner power? It started with finding my passion and dreams in fashion and sports, which began when I was young. With fashion comes sports for me because they both have always been loves of my life. With passions come dreams and empowerment, it is not just about the outfit or having a hot dog at a baseball game, but about the memories made with loved ones that come with each, about dreaming, being creative and an empowered woman that I have become.

Fashion and sports for me are about what gives me my strength to keep going with my dreams and how they were possible, spending time with my family and making memories, which allowed me to find my voice.

I have noticed that in society speaking your voice and feeling empowered in our views are not always looked at positively, but in life we can’t please everyone. We have to continue to stay true to ourselves in what we love and dream about and how we can do that is through surrounding ourselves with a support system, make goals each day that will push us to achieve what helps us feel empowered, to find our voice and what we dream about.Life is about dreams and feeling empowered that we can achieve them and have that voice to shout it out to the world!

How do I get empowered every day ? I surround myself with amazing family and friends, daily affirmations with my super hero pose, do a dance party, wear a go to ensemble that helps me feel my best inside and out and do something that I love everyday from fashion to sports.

Weekend of Splendor with my Mom

To play off the quote above, I had a truly amazing Halloween weekend with a women that always makes me laugh and who I always have a good time with, my mom. This whole girls weekend came about because my dad was going to visit friends so my mom and I decided to plan a girls Halloween weekend. So we got to planning an amazing weekend.

Our first adventure we snapped on our fall ensembles and went off to the magical Rise of the Jack O Lanterns Festival, which consisted of a maze of wonder in hand carved pumpkins. We saw a sea of jellyfish to Prince William & Princess Kate to a magical dragon. We snapped photos, laughed a lot, enjoyed the weather and kicked off our girls weekend of spending time without a hitch.

It was not Halloween Saturday and ready for the next adventure, which we have arrived at movie time of Something Wicked This Way Comes, one of my mom’s faves. I have never seen it before so it was special to share with my mom even if the movie was a little spooky, but perfect for the Halloween holiday. With the movie over and dinner just around the corner it was time to get in our Saturday Halloween evening dinner wear for a fabulous night at Mike & Anne’s, one of our faves in the area. Let me tell you, we ate amazing food from a Japanese pumpkin salad to some wine and scallops, pasta and ended it with splitting a holiday appropriate dessert pumpkin pie. It was another adventure for the books and ended with relaxation, which is always a treat.

It is Sunday morning the day after Halloween and our next, final adventure is here, one that my mom and I alway love doing, going to the flea market. A perfect time to shop for awesome finds, bond and enjoy a nice Sunday. Such amazing pieces at the flea market, lets just say I wanted a lot. One of the collest things was a Union 76 gas tank that could work as a coll coffee table and it reminded us of my dad who use to work for Union 76 corporate. The flea market is always fun when there with my mom and my dad always has us thinking of him one way or another when we are there 🙂 .

The girls weekend was a hit and family was ever present, which leads me to this question, Why is it important to hang with your mom and the whole family? I have always known how important being with family is, but this girls weekend truly made me realize why it is. It is important becasue they are my heart and with them around my life just has more joy and happiness. I also realized it is special to hang out with each family member separately because it is more intimate in a different way and it is special as well when we all came together.

Life can get in the way sometimes, but it is important to make time for the ones who have your heart and I know I will hold this girls weekend with my mom forever in my heart.

Creative Juices are Flowing with Passion at Art Hearts Fashion

Fashion is an art whether on the runway, exploring out with friends or a combination of the two. It is a special moment when you realize that you can share in something you are passionate and real about it over dinner before the fashion shows, during and after. It is a realness that is sometimes hard to find especially in fashion, but being with great friends made me realize it’s all around in fashion and outside of it and even the fellow fashion show goers were amazing and truly enjoying the evening. There was a sense of an intimate show with friends even with a lot of people in attendance.

Luckily in the see of people mixed with the sense of intimacy, I was able to get a combination of the art of fashion and exploring out with friends at Off Vine Restaurant. It is always an added bonus when you get an evening filled with amazing fashion from Furne One, Mister Triple X and Michal Ngo at Art Hearts Fashion’s final night of shows put on by Parker Whitaker Productions. It’s amazing to see friends do what they love and enjoy the things we are all passionate about together, which involved the great creativity and talent that came out of Art Hearts Fashion. The creativity not only came out of the designers, but the fellow show goers as well. I believe seeing those fashions are partly why I go and they too inspire like the designers.

To be able to be there with friends like Jessica Pinedo of Just Jess Fashion (one of my favorite fashion blogs) who support me and who I support is truly a gift and why I had such a great night. I mean who doesn’t love an excuse to get all dolled up to have a great night out with friends when fashion shows are involved? I know I am in every time.

First Step Into Fall Fashions

Fall is here… well, somewhat here in Southern California, but for most of the country the tree leaves have change and the air is brisk and one can’t forget about the change in fashions.

Fall is one of my favorite times of year because it brings about the colorful leaves, all

things pumpkin from lattes to the well known seed, carving for Halloween, amazing

sweater and of course all the amazing pops of color we get to incorporate into our

everyday wardrobe. I do have a confession to make: I sometimes rock those colors

all year round when I am feeling in a fall mood. But, that is what fashion is all about, right? Wearing what you feel and owning it !
