Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. It is all about giving thanks and being with family and friends while eating amazing food. I wanted to share some of my favorites for Thanksgiving from food to fashion. Hope it inspires you to give thanks in your own special way.

CAN NEVER GO WRONG WITH THE MUSEUM OF ICE CREAM

Back in July, I went to the Museum of Ice Cream with my amazing mom. The moment I found out about the Museum of Ice Cream in NYC, I knew if I could get my mom there one day I would. So y’all can imagine when I found the Museum of Ice Cream was coming to LA how excited I was. I was mainly stoked because I was going to be able to take my mom, who is a lover of Ice Cream.

Come July it was time for my mom and I to enjoy the Museum of Ice Cream. We got our ice cream themed ensembles together and we were on our ice cream way. Once we arrived we were greeted with an ice cream stamped walk way. So each ticket(s) have a specific time when the tour starts, but the museum had the cutest outdoor waiting area. Right away my mom and I knew we were right at home.

At the door, we were asked our favorite ice cream flavor so our smiles than grew even larger. The doors opened and we were greeted with Dove chocolate, one of our faves. Chocolate was followed by the pink telephone room with a message from Seth Rogan and laughter exuded from us. A world of Venice,CA followed and that included some yummy Cool Haus ice cream, yummy in our tummies !

What came next was just one of my favorite parts of the tour with my mom, swinging away on the swings and being silly under the hanging bananas. Just being silly and having fun with my mom is always the best. Down the ice cream road we went and never turned back. The garden of mint chip ice cream had to be tended to and we happily accepted this task. A fun side note this is my dad’s favorite ice cream. The yummy treats of mint chip mochi was taken care of and very tasty.

Somewhere over the rainbow to the room of melted ice cream we went to lead us to gummy bears galore. Of course my mom and I had everything along the way which included more chocolate. My favorite part was just over the rainbow, the pool of sprinkles. We got in and scooped up some pool floaties to have some fun. Suprisingly very relaxing put your feet in sprinkles. They did get everywhere, but it was well worth it.

The tour ended with an ice cream sandwich swing and a yummy pancake ice cream sandwich. What a way to end an amazing day with my mom. The Museum of Ice Cream was definitely worth it and beyond memorable. I look forward to the next adventure with my mom.

Dream A Little Dream Tonight

These stairs in Silverlake got me thinking about what I am passionate about. My two passions in life I can’t do without are sports and fashion. It seems more and more that these 2 loves of mine are colliding, which is so exciting. What has allowed these two worlds to collide are my lifestyle blog and pr career.

My passion for both grows everyday. My blog allows me to embrace both loves and not having to choose between the two is such a joy and dream.

Each day I love finding ways to continuously have sports and fashion in my professional life and personal life. I am sure after I shot on the rainbow stairs, I went home changed into my sports gear and watched some baseball and/or golf. Even as I type up this post, I am watching my Chicago Cubs take on the Cincinnati Reds.

Something I still struggle with is trying to fullfill both sides of me (fashion girl & sports fanatic), but the more I focus on my blogging and honing in on my pr career it seems my two passions come together.

Being at the rainbow stairs and some moments since then, I have realized that I don’t have to choose between the two. For y’all too, if you have multiple passions in life, don’t get discouraged about feeling like you have to choose. You can find ways to pursue them both or even mold them together.

Each day, I am so grateful that everyone around me is so supportive, allow me to be me and pursue what I love. Don’t let others get in your way of what you are passionate about , where there is a will there is a way.

I love fashion and I love all things sports. They will both always be a part of all aspects in my life. I am so grateful and excited about where they both will take me!

Redefining Relaxation Through a Staycation at Farmer’s Daughter Hotel

A tradition I have started in the last year was one of having a staycation as often as I can. It was something that started with wanting to be near work one week when I had a lot going on. A light bulb went off, “why don’t I have a staycation every so often?” The tradition of staycations were born right then and there for me.

So the time came again this past February for me to have another staycation and exploring adventure in my amazing city. Where this next staycation was going to be was not hard, Farmer’s Daughter Hotel and the surrounding area that I had been wanting to stay in for awhile. It’s a hotel I passed a bunch of times and an area I have been to before and have just fallen in love with it all. An added bonus too is one of my favorite outdoor shopping spots, The Grove, is a quick walk from the hotel along with Coffee Commissary within 5 minutes or so, which I was so excited to finally try).

The reservation was made and my staycation was here, yay ! Luckily the bad weather subsided long enough for me to have an amazing staycation. I checked in to Farmer’s Daughter Hotel, which has one of the cutest lobbies and my room wasn’t ready, but it was perfect because I had the perfect chance to walk on over to The Grove for a shopping adventure before dinner.

Where to start now at The Grove ? Topshop caught my eye immediately I was overwhelmed with excitement on all the great pieces, but the ones I ended up with was this amazing leather floral pleated skirt and fun, fuzzy socks for Valentine’s Day that I now where all the time. Now that I have added some amazing new pieces to my wardrobe, it is time for a refreshing beverage and a tasty snack. Whenever I am at the Grove my go to is Nordstrom Cafe. I ordered an iced tea (my obsession) with a smoked salmon platter (always my go to) and I was able to enjoy it all outside in the cute court yard surrounding the cafe.

My room was ready and it was a nice surprise because they upgraded me to the main building to makeup for me waiting, which highlighted their amazing customer service even more. Walking into the room, I got a warm, cozy feeling and I knew I was in a space of pure relaxation, which was needed with the amazing king bed and breakfast nook bench all with fantastic accents everywhere. I officially need a king bed in my life because I was spoiled by this one, absolutely loved.

Being able to plop down on the amazing bed with my magazaine and book before dinner at Tart (the restaturant connected directly to the hotel). Dinner was here my outfit was fun and fabulous and my book & notebook were in hand. With the essentials in tow, I walked over and got a gorgeous seat on their deck near the fireplace, simply fantastic (I highly recommend making a reservation like I did to guarantee a gorgeous spot, which is anywhere at this amazing place). I ordered jasmine green tea, brussel sprouts with a fried egg and fried pickles as an appetizer (a suggestion from Bread and Butter PR) and for the main course, one of the best cheeseburger (mmm, delicious).

Let me tell you this meal was stupendous ! I can’t forget the delicious, decadent dessert, which they delivered to my room after I got back up (they seriously spoiled me). I ordered italian sugar donuts with a delicious filling, one of the bests. Eating the dessert at my nook in my room was the perfect end to a perfect day and night.

It was morning and after being well rested and re-energized, I lounged and wrote in my room before heading out. I ended the trip with a stop at Coffee Commissary for breakfast, which is one of my new favorites.

To say I will be back is an understatement, I will be back in ten fold to each spot especially because I have to be sure to ride around on the Farmer’s Daughter Hotel adorable bikes 🙂 .

Fun in the Sun: It’s Festival Season!

This Confucious quote is one of truth, music is one I cannot do without and many of you can’t either. Music gives us memories and reminds us of specific moments. Music helps us through the good, the bad and the ugly of life. I know one song that always makes me laugh is “Bump,Bump, Bump” by B2K, it is a reminder of all my high school dancers with my friends. Music is one of fun, hope and joy, which is what makes festival season one of the best times of the year.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and it got me to thinking why I love Valentine’s Day is so special to me, yes I love the fashion that comes with it, the flowers, chocolates, cards, food and much more, but Valentine’s Day is so much more to me than just these things. Valentine’s Day to me warms my heart because of the memories I have made with the family and friends that I love from my dad bringing home flowers to lobster and cupcakes to my mom getting my sister and I a heart sparkle ring that I forever will wear to watching movies and just being together for Valentine’s Day with my family and friends.

Fashion for a Cause in the New Year

It is 2016…can’t believe it ! To kick off the new year, my first post of 2016 is about brands that I not only love but brands that support amazing causes. The brands I will be featuring are Threads for Thought(design and produce ethical, sustainable fashion for the environment), Pura Vida Bracelets(Charity Collections and helps create jobs for those in Costa Rica) , who I have partnered up with these amazing bracelets that are featured, Buckfeet Shoes(support local artists), Flex Watches(the one featured is to support Love and Equality organizations) and last, but not least Toms (for every pair purchased another pair is given to those in need).

My love for fashion that supports different causes came about in college when I started researching about eco friendly marketing in business. A light bulb went off and ever since then I do my best to shop for brands that support a cause and also partner with brands for my blog as well whether its in support of female entrepreneurship to the environment. For me supporting causes means supporting others and supporting others is important to keep this world going. The world goes round when we are all each others cheerleaders 🙂

Finding Your Inner Empowered Boss

It’s a bid, its a plane… it’s an empowered woman ! It’s me !

Feeling empowered and declaring my dreams have not always been easy, but through the years in finding my passion and dreams, feeling empowered and my voice have grown.How do you say did I find my inner power? It started with finding my passion and dreams in fashion and sports, which began when I was young. With fashion comes sports for me because they both have always been loves of my life. With passions come dreams and empowerment, it is not just about the outfit or having a hot dog at a baseball game, but about the memories made with loved ones that come with each, about dreaming, being creative and an empowered woman that I have become.

Fashion and sports for me are about what gives me my strength to keep going with my dreams and how they were possible, spending time with my family and making memories, which allowed me to find my voice.

I have noticed that in society speaking your voice and feeling empowered in our views are not always looked at positively, but in life we can’t please everyone. We have to continue to stay true to ourselves in what we love and dream about and how we can do that is through surrounding ourselves with a support system, make goals each day that will push us to achieve what helps us feel empowered, to find our voice and what we dream about.Life is about dreams and feeling empowered that we can achieve them and have that voice to shout it out to the world!

How do I get empowered every day ? I surround myself with amazing family and friends, daily affirmations with my super hero pose, do a dance party, wear a go to ensemble that helps me feel my best inside and out and do something that I love everyday from fashion to sports.

Weekend of Splendor with my Mom

To play off the quote above, I had a truly amazing Halloween weekend with a women that always makes me laugh and who I always have a good time with, my mom. This whole girls weekend came about because my dad was going to visit friends so my mom and I decided to plan a girls Halloween weekend. So we got to planning an amazing weekend.

Our first adventure we snapped on our fall ensembles and went off to the magical Rise of the Jack O Lanterns Festival, which consisted of a maze of wonder in hand carved pumpkins. We saw a sea of jellyfish to Prince William & Princess Kate to a magical dragon. We snapped photos, laughed a lot, enjoyed the weather and kicked off our girls weekend of spending time without a hitch.

It was not Halloween Saturday and ready for the next adventure, which we have arrived at movie time of Something Wicked This Way Comes, one of my mom’s faves. I have never seen it before so it was special to share with my mom even if the movie was a little spooky, but perfect for the Halloween holiday. With the movie over and dinner just around the corner it was time to get in our Saturday Halloween evening dinner wear for a fabulous night at Mike & Anne’s, one of our faves in the area. Let me tell you, we ate amazing food from a Japanese pumpkin salad to some wine and scallops, pasta and ended it with splitting a holiday appropriate dessert pumpkin pie. It was another adventure for the books and ended with relaxation, which is always a treat.

It is Sunday morning the day after Halloween and our next, final adventure is here, one that my mom and I alway love doing, going to the flea market. A perfect time to shop for awesome finds, bond and enjoy a nice Sunday. Such amazing pieces at the flea market, lets just say I wanted a lot. One of the collest things was a Union 76 gas tank that could work as a coll coffee table and it reminded us of my dad who use to work for Union 76 corporate. The flea market is always fun when there with my mom and my dad always has us thinking of him one way or another when we are there 🙂 .

The girls weekend was a hit and family was ever present, which leads me to this question, Why is it important to hang with your mom and the whole family? I have always known how important being with family is, but this girls weekend truly made me realize why it is. It is important becasue they are my heart and with them around my life just has more joy and happiness. I also realized it is special to hang out with each family member separately because it is more intimate in a different way and it is special as well when we all came together.

Life can get in the way sometimes, but it is important to make time for the ones who have your heart and I know I will hold this girls weekend with my mom forever in my heart.
