Small Businesses to Support

“Support the Makers”

We are going through a time of uncertainty personally and in our businesses. I know that we will get through this and we will do that by supporting one another.

A way I wanted to support was to share my favorite and my friends’ small businesses to shop right now online to help keep them going and to help keep supporting their employees.

Here they are, enjoy!

Where In The World Does Iced Tea and Top Knots Want To Go: Paris

To kick off being back to posting on a regular basis, I am launching a new series, “Where In The World Does Iced Tea and Top Knots Want To Go.” For the first one, I am covering Paris, France! Ever since I was little I have always wanted to go to Paris and anytime I saw Paris on TV or in a movie it heightened my dream to go to Paris.

What really just confirmed my love of Paris was the movie ‘Midnight in Paris.’ Truly fell in love all over again with Paris and more. I have my outfits planned for each occasion and historical spot I want to visit as well as my coffee spots where I will have a tea latte and French macaroon. I can’t wait to go and that is one of my goals for 2020, go to Paris and soak up as much as I can. Here’s to the trip of my dreams. I have listed some of my favorites I have that I want to go to. See below and let me know what your favorites have been when visiting Paris.

Father’s Day is almost here. I can’t wait to celebrate my dad by treating him to a Cubs game and lunch. Go Cubs Go!

Now to the gifting part of the holiday. Have you shopped yet for all the dads in your life? If not have no fear I am here to help you. I have picked out 5 items from Amazon that can get to them before the special day. So let’s getting to shopping 🙂

Team Tee Trends Featuring Sharp Dressed Fan

To say last year when my Chicago Cubs won the World Series was amazing and historic is an understatement. This season has had a sense of up and down, but with continued excitement and fun. So with a 2 game lead in their division, they need to keep playing hard and with heart like they have been to keep that lead. A few things for them to keep their lead are to stop moving around the line up (slowly getting better with that), get the bullpen’s confidence up and get Willson Contreras off the DL, which thankfully happened yesterday before game 1 with the Mets. His energy and talent are electric and contagious. Here is to great hitting & pitching throughout the rest of the season.

cb8af4ffba270acdd9d6c3431fc29a63

September baseball is going to continue being amazing and I believe in the Cubs to keep that Central Division lead. Go Cubs Go ! One of the many things I love about baseball is the love and loyalty to one’s team. The fun comroderity and competition that comes with family and friends creates such joy and an added bonus to an already amazing game. It is one big family when it comes down to it and brings us to together.

To celebrate September baseball for my Cubs, I thought I would channel some of my favorite fashion trends of the moment. Two of my favorite things are fashion and sports. I get to combined them everyday and this series with the Mets is no different in doing that. The trends I have incorporated are a vintage graphic tee and the color of power red or Cubbie red as I like to call it.

This vintage tee has been passed around throughout my family, which of course I had to pair it with my Cubbie power red Mary Janes by Nine West along with my favorite high waisted jeans. Of course I had to add a vintage Cubs hat (thanks Dad) as well as a Cubbie power red lip ! Here is to continued ensembles with a flair for sports and fashion this September baseball season representing my favorite team 🙂

Hat : LIDS , Wrigleyville Sports

Earrings: Gorjana , Bauble Bar , Forever 21

Tee: Clark Street Sports , Shop CBS Sports (A Fanatics Experience)

Jeans: Target , Target , Target

Shoes: DSW , Michael Kors , Nine West , Kohl’s

Lipstick: Elf Cosmetics (exact one I used) , MAC Cosmetics , NYX Cosmetics

*I linked similar ones to the pieces that I am wearing

As I mentioned before what I love about baseball is that it brings us all together and this collaboration rains true to that. Sharp Dressed Fan and I have collaborated for the Cubs vs Mets series, which concludes tonight. It was fun for us both to style and represent our teams with our perspective vintage tees. Below is her chic account of styling for her New York Mets.

Sharp Dressed Fan Knows How to Represent Her New York Mets

So admittedly, my Mets aren’t doing nearly as well as the Cubbies this season, but I still love ’em! Even after living out here in California for 10+ years, I still follow the Metsies religiously, and listen to, or watch, about 95% of the games. Sundays are especially fun, as we’ve created a group of loyalists in LA , and gather to watch, and drink through, the games together. While the Yankees may claim more fans, the New Yorkers who bleed orange and blue are absolute die-hards, and even the first to form a traveling fan club (with their own apparel line!)

IMG_5272.JPG

The look I’ve put together for this Mets v. Cubs series is based on two major trends this year: the white logo tee, and the pleated midi skirt. The versatility of the tee knows no bounds, but, as it’s still a new-again trend, it can be more difficult to find a crew neck for women. My choice is actually a vintage Mets tee from the innaugural MLB Victoria’s Secret Pink line, but I’ve linked to another excellent option below in a child’s size. Don’t be afraid to try sizes outside your range – a kids L or XL makes a close match for a women’s S or M most times. My cobalt skirt was a fab clearance find at Forever21 (who can say no to a $6 skirt?!) and I’ve linked to an even lovlier one from Anthropologie, but they’re so popular at the moment, that you can find one in any price range. My gold heels can easily be swapped out for a more reasonable day-shoe, like the block heel alternatives I’ve linked to, but be creative! The best part about dressing up a tee is that there is no wrong answer, just as long as your repping your team.

Hat: Macy’s

Tee: Fans Edge

Skirt: Anthropologie

Shoes: Saks Fifth Avenue

Dream A Little Dream Tonight

“Inspiration is finding something that excites you.” ~Connie Smith

These stairs in Silverlake got me thinking about what I am passionate about. My two passions in life I can’t do without are sports and fashion. It seems more and more that these 2 loves of mine are colliding, which is so exciting. What has allowed these two worlds to collide are my lifestyle blog and pr career.

IMG_1885

My passion for both grows everyday. My blog allows me to embrace both loves and not having to choose between the two is such a joy and dream.

Each day I love finding ways to continuously have sports and fashion in my professional life and personal life. I am sure after I shot on the rainbow stairs, I went home changed into my sports gear and watched some baseball and/or golf. Even as I type up this post, I am watching my Chicago Cubs take on the Cincinnati Reds.

Something I still struggle with is trying to fullfill both sides of me (fashion girl & sports fanatic), but the more I focus on my blogging and honing in on my pr career it seems my two passions come together.

IMG_6601

Being at the rainbow stairs and some moments since then, I have realized that I don’t have to choose between the two. For y’all too, if you have multiple passions in life, don’t get discouraged about feeling like you have to choose. You can find ways to pursue them both or even mold them together.

Each day, I am so grateful that everyone around me is so supportive, allow me to be me and pursue what I love. Don’t let others get in your way of what you are passionate about , where there is a will there is a way.

I love fashion and I love all things sports. They will both always be a part of all aspects in my life. I am so grateful and excited about where they both will take me!

P.S. What are your loves & passions in life ?

Another note, I find that when trying to focus on my passions listening to my favorites helps me to not lose track of what I love.

Yes Pleases of the Week

“Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you.” ~ Oprah

In the words of Oprah, it is all about what excites you each and every week or as y’all know for me it is my Yes Pleases ! They are here and they all truly excite me and hope they inspire y’all to embrace what excites you. This week it is as usual an array of different things, which is what I love. There is never just one realm I am into. So I hope y’all enjoy.

Here are my Yes Pleases of the Week !

Yes Please #1: Coco Rose Boutique

Coco Rose Boutique has become my new favorite boutique in the last couple years. It has a great boho chic, fun vibe and never disappoints on what they have to offer. I always finding something I love and this past time was no different and to that I always say Yes Please !

Yes Please #2: Wrigleyville Sports

My all time favorite sports store is Wrigleyville Sports. It is right by Wrigley Field and online as well (which I love). It is a place I can get all my Cubs’ goodies as well as my other fave Chicago teams, which is my long time obsessions. I finally went there for the first time last year and I went over board with sports gear, so glad I did. Wrigleyville Sports is the best and will forever be a huge Yes Please !

Yes Please #3: Getting a Blow Dry

This week I got another amazing blow dry from Hair by Mal . I have always loved a pamper day that involved getting an amazing blow dry. What I have also realized this past time is how therapuetic getting a blow dry is for me. Just taking that time to be in the moment and relax is something I very much need. So a blow dry is amazing, relaxing and gets my Yes Please vote !

Yes Please #4: LaCroix Sparkling Water

I am officially hooked on LaCroix Sparkling Water and have to make sure to have it near by at all times. I love them all, but my go to is LaCroix Passionfruit. Yummy and Yes Please !

Yes Please #5: Flamingo Prints

Flamingo Print anything is my new favorite print especially on an awesome romper like the one below. It’s a fun and fantastic print that is perfect for any occasion. The best is when my mom gets flamingo print pieces and I can go and borrow them 🙂 This is a print that will always be a trend and Yes Please in my closet. Don’t be surprised if a flamingo pool and drink floatie pop up in the future 🙂

These are my passions/Yes Pleases that I continue to love and embrace. I look forward to next week’s. Thanks again for tuning in !

~Kerry of KLM Fashion Style

P.S. What’s your favorite go to store to shop at ? Mine is either Coco Rose Boutique or Wrigleyville Sports.

Yes Pleases of the Week

“I don’t believe in guilty pleasures. If you enjoy something there is nothing guilty about it.” ~Busy Phillips

It is that time of the week again where I share my obsessions of the week ala my Yes Pleases. This has become one of my favorite series to write because it allows me to just delve into what I am really loving and sharing it with y’all in hopes it inspires 🙂 I also love showcasing amazing brands and items to show while also supporting others who are passionate about what they do.

Let’s Go ! Yes Pleases for the week are under way !!

Yes Please #1: MLB TV

MLB TV is amazing and not only lets me watch all the Chicago Cubs games, but it keeps me intuned with the other teams that are always intriguing. I wouldn’t survive baseball season without MLB TV. I love that I can get it through an app as well. Yes Please to MLB TV always !

Yes Please #2: Pop Sockets

I first found out about Pop Sockets at an event I ran last year and was very enamored with them right away. I just recently purchased one and I love it. My palm tree Pop Socket is not only a fun accessory, but it is another way to keep a hold of my phone and to take photos without dropping it ( been there ). So I say Yes Please to this trend !

Yes Please #3: Museum of Ice Cream

I have to say I loved the Museum of Ice Cream not just because of the tasty treats, awesome sprinkle pool or gummi bears everywhere, but in large part because I got to have so much fun with my mom. She is a lover/connoisseur of ice cream and she has passed it on to me, thanks Mom ! We had a ball and I say Yes Please to that !

Yes Please #4: Perfect Formula‘s Pink Gel Coat

This is my new favorite nail product. It is great for nail health along with an added flare for nail accessorizing. It works great, looks great and I can already see a difference. So yay and Yes Please !

Yes Please #5: Ice Cream Cone TOMS

I first got my Ice Cream Cone TOMS when I knew I was going to the Museum of Ice Cream and I am so happy I did. Not only did I wear them to the museum, but I will continue to pair them with my outfits. They are fun and delicious, which is what I love in my fashion and is a big Yes Please !

So much fun and deliciousness this week, thank y’all for coming on over ! See y’all next week !!

~Kerry of KLM Fashion Style

P.S. What is everyone’s favorite tasty treat ? Mine is Mochi Ice Cream.

Yes Pleases of the Week

“Sugar, Yes Please.”

My favorite time of the week is here, it is my Yes Pleases of the Week. I love being able to share with y’all my current obsessions . My hope with this weekly series is for us each to inspire one another. Here is to another week of Yes Pleases, fun and inspiration !

Yes Please #1 : Fun Hair Accessories

When I am not wearing a hat (sun or Cubs), I am wearing fun hair accessories like my Perky Pony or my floral hair clips by The Vintage Cosmetic Company. They both along with others add that extra flair for a girls day out, a night out or a fun adventure, Yes Please to all of that !

IMG_9252

Yes Please #2: Huckleberry Everything

So I was introduced to Huckleberry when I went to Montana for my friend’s wedding four years ago. I had never heard of this fruit before primarily because it comes from Montana and surrounding areas. I tried it for the first time in the form of a shake in Plains, MT and I fell in love. I say Yes Please to it all from jam to coffee to ice cream from Sweet Peaks and everything else Huckleberry. If you come across it, I say try it and let me know what you think 🙂 (If you are in the San Diego area, Old Town has some 🙂 )

Yes Please #3: Montana Coffee Traders

I recently went to Kalispell, Montana to visit a friend and then we road tripped it back. When I arrived in Kalispell, we stopped at Montana Coffee Traders . Let me tell you, smelled amazing , looked so cute and was delicious. My iced tea and sandwich were fantastic. Next time I am in Kalispell I will definitely be stopping there. An added bonus: being able to buy some goodies for my fan, always a Yes Please !

Yes Please #4: Odd Mom Out on Bravo (premiered on Wednesday, July 12th)

Odd Mom Out had me hooked from their season 1 trailer last year. With Season 2 now in week 2, I am still hooked and it seems to get better and better. I can’t wait to figure out what my favorite episode will be from this new season. It covers real topics, but in a way that is a great escape filled with laughs. Odd Mom Out, Yes Please.

Yes Please #5: All Things Live Love Gameday

I came in contact with Live Love Gameday when I was working on a sports and fashion piece last year. I fell in love with this brand immediately, which includes Burleyson and Blaine along with LLG. I became obsessed not just because it is made in the US via Dallas & run by a fabulous girl boss, Sydney McArthur, but because it is a combo of my two loves: sports and fashion. I continue to rock their pieces on the daily especially when supporting my Chicago Cubs. LLG will always get my Yes Please stamp of approval.

This week’s Yes Pleases were so exciting to compile together. Thanks for being patient after I was off for a bit 🙂 Stay tuned for next week’s Yes Pleases !

~Kerry of KLM Fashion Style

P.S. What is something new you have tried that you just can’t seem to get enough of ? I have never been on a road trip before and I am hooked now 🙂
